Oviedo Chickens
Oviedo has always been known for a population of chickens, but they didn't seem
to be so popular until a few years ago. About thirty chickens which inhabit the
area around the historic downtown shopping center. Ironically, they tend to
congregate behind the Popeye's Chicken restaurant. These Oviedo chickens started
to floursih in 1994 when a lone chicken appeared on a nearby office of Land-Tech
Surveying & Mapping Corp. Owner P.R.(Rick) Burns and crew fed the chicken - and
soon it gave birth to 14 chickens, which have grown into the population seen in
Oviedo today.
